Questions before you sign up

The questions people ask before they start, with the page that covers each one in full.

Trade and service businesses of every kind — anyone who sends people out to a site. HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, pest control, CCTV and security, cleaning, landscaping, solar, elevators, refrigeration, roofing, painting, carpentry, flooring, locksmiths, garage doors, appliance repair, handyman work, property maintenance and facilities management, water treatment, drainage, pressure washing, snow removal, construction, logistics, pool and spa, computer repair, cable and internet.

It is one product, not a different one per trade. What changes is which parts you live in — see industries and how they use it.

Yes: 15 days free, with no credit card and no setup fee. Signing up takes a couple of minutes, and you can cancel at any time.

The trial gives you your own account, so the useful way to spend it is on your own work rather than on sample data: add a client, raise a job for them, send it to a phone, and invoice it at the end. Plans and pricing covers what each plan includes for when you decide to carry on.

It is billed per person per month, with separate rates for fieldworkers and admins, on three plans:

ImperativeAdvancePremium
Fieldworker / month$7$10$14
Admin / month$12$15$18

Paying yearly takes 20% off, there is no setup cost, and billing has a $50 minimum. What each plan includes is in plans and pricing, and eyeontask.com/pricing is the authority on current prices.

Two ways.

Take the trial. It is the whole product with your own data in it, and it costs nothing to start.

Ask for a walkthrough. Someone from the team will take you through it — there is no booking page, so ask by live chat on the website or by email. See getting help.

Xero and QuickBooks Online both connect, on the Advance plan and above. Invoices go out to the accounts package, payments travel both ways, and clients and items can be brought in from it. See integrations, Xero and QuickBooks.

Payments are collected through Stripe and PayPal, and Zapier connects the rest.

Yes — Android and iOS, included from the Imperative plan up. Your fieldworkers get the jobs they have been sent, record what they did, take photos, add the parts they used and capture the customer’s signature on site. See the fieldworker app.

What if a technician loses signal on the job?

Section titled “What if a technician loses signal on the job?”

The app keeps working. They carry on with the job in front of them — reading what they were sent, recording what they did — and it syncs when the phone has a connection again.

Check In and Check Out are the exception: attendance needs a connection at the moment it is marked, so a day cannot be started or ended while offline. See the fieldworker app.

Starting fresh: quick — set your lists up, add your people, and you are working.

Coming from another system: usually a couple of days, and at most a week, depending on how much data there is and how many kinds of it.

Fill in the import templates yourself, or send your files as they are and the team migrates them for you — see assisted import. If you use Xero or QuickBooks, sync clients and items from there first.

Can it handle recurring jobs and maintenance contracts?

Section titled “Can it handle recurring jobs and maintenance contracts?”

Both, and they are different things.

Recurring jobs repeat work on a pattern — daily, weekly, monthly — with no agreement behind them. Imperative plan.

Contracts are the agreement itself: what is covered, for how long, what it costs, and the visits it generates. Advance plan.

  • Your documents — logo, theme colour and layout on invoices, quotes and job cards. See templates.
  • The customer portal — your own colours, and it can be published as a branded app under your own name.
  • Your words — rename anything the product calls something else: job, client, fieldworker. See language and labels.
  • Your fields — custom fields add what your trade records that the standard form does not ask for.
